Knowledge Course - January 25th 2025 0930 - 1530
A one-day virtual knowledge course where we cover all the fundamentals of the interview process itself, as well as tips and tricks for maximising your scores on the day!
Commitment to Specialty (formerly 'Portfolio')
We provide guidance on model answers to common questions in this station that will help highlight your achievements and make you stand out to your interviewers!
Clinical
We will cover common clinical scenarios, and how to structure your answers to score as highly as possible and project confidence with a range of clinical situations through case discussions!
Prioritisation
This is truly the station to show 'higher order thinking' and we will cover all the tips and tricks in list planning & task prioritisation that will help you show your interviewers you are ready to become an orthopaedic registrar!
Communication
We cover the scoring system and go through some of the most frequently encountered scenarios in Comms and how to handle these through structured, patient-centric approaches!
Our knowledge course is taught by successful candidates with recent first-hand experience of the interviews, as well as knowledgeable OrthoPro faculty, and aims to cover everything you need to know to score top marks!
Portfolio Review - Various dates/times
The Commitment to Specialty station can be unpredictable and sometimes difficult to really showcase your accomplishments and score those top marks.
We offer a detailed CV review service culminating in a one hour 1:1 online feedback session to provide you with tailored guidance on how to answer a range of common questions based specifically on your portfolio! We will help guide you on how to really let your achievements shine through, what to really focus on, as well as areas for development you may be asked about!
All CVs are reviewed prior to the knowledge course by OrthoPro faculty, we then book in your personalised feedback session with you at a convenient time over a three week period between the knowledge course and the mock interviews (26/01/25 - 14/02/25).
Mock Interview - 22nd February 2025
Practice your interview technique and receive detailed feedback from a range of experienced interviewers from registrar to consultant!
Our mock interview has previously run under a different banner for 6 years, adapting to the changes Covid brought, and has received hugely popular feedback every year. A number of our interviewers have previously attended the course and successfully attained their training number!
For each station, candidates will be interviewed for 10 minutes, then receive 5 minutes of personalised feedback before moving to the next station. The interview cycle will then be repeated with different stations, giving you an incredible opportunity to refine your speaking skills and learn how you can really boost your technique across a minimum of two full "interviews"!
All candidates will receive written feedback and a certificate of participation on completion of course feedback!
